Tje Austin is an Texas-based R&B singer-songwriter living in Austin. In 2011 he was a contestant during the first run of the North American adaptation of The Voice. After what he calls an amazing experience, Tje delved heavily into writing, releasing a few albums along the way and touring the country in his Prius.
Tje Austin self released his EP "I Belong to You" on January 20, 2017, peaking at #25 on the iTunes R&B charts. Hailed as a "a rich and varied release" with a " brassy blast of classic soul" by the Austin American Statesman, the album is a celebration and open love letter to life and the little things that get twisted in the mix.
In 2019, he was nominated and featured as a Black Fret artist, eventually going on to be awarded a grant at the Black Fret Ball. In 2021, Tje Austin was announced as a winning finalist of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for his acoustic R&B song “I Can’t Breathe”, a song written during the pandemic in direct response to the murder of George Floyd back in May of 2020.
In 2026, he released “afterglow” written by himself and Robert Sewell. “afterglow” went on to win for best song in Adult Contemporary in the 2025 Great American Song Contest.
With the help of writing partner and producer Robert Sewell, Tje Austin is working on a new album titled “bloom” set to release in the fall of 2026.
